Bangkok, Thailand

As we all know Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and a major tourist destination of Southeast Asia. It is a very populous city in this country. The traffic of this city is kinda like New York and also this city never sleeps. Bangkok is very well known for its ornate shrines and lively exciting street life. Sky high buildings and rooftop restaurants, bars, clubs are also a big part of it. It is a city full of tourists and travelers. The people of this city are very nice and friendly, foods are in Bangkok is to die for. Thai delicacy is one of the world’s best delicacies. People all around the globe come to Bangkok for their food, history, hospitality, and nightlife. Bangkok has a very vibrant and active nightlife for its tourists and travelers. It offers clubbing, partying, booze and what not.

The city is also very rich in history, they have more than 400 temples (wats) to visit and a hundred years of Thai history to know. Thailand is a tropical country, so the climate of Bangkok is also very nice and warm. Its a very humid place, so in winter you won’t feel those chills as you feel in Europe or America. I think that is something everyone like about this county and this city. This place is tourist heaven not because of the warm and nice weather or climate, people with a low budget and still want to go somewhere very beautiful, this one is definitely the best option for you. Not just the Bangkok but entire Thailand is naturally beautiful and also very budget friendly to travel. You surely will have a good time with your family and friends over there. Thailand has a lot of amazingly beautiful islands, breathtaking views, and clean blue water beaches. Sun Rises and Sun Sets are the must watch things in Thailand.

I myself went to Bangkok several times and its always a pleasure to go back there. I will share some of my experience below while I was traveling over there:

Flights to Bangkok

1. Bangkok Air Ticket costs:

Thai Airways is a very reliable and convenient option for people who want airplane tickets at a low price. This airline flies to 32 countries and regions and also to 63 destinations, including Bangkok. Although there are so many other excellent airways to choose from, such as Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, etc. I have some tips you can always use whenever you are booking a flight to get the best deals on them or how to get discounts on flights. Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays are the cheapest days to fly internationally and Sundays are the most expensive days but if you are flying domestically it depends on the airport.

Whenever you are booking a flight search for the best deals on the flight booking apps. Google flights are also good. These apps and websites always offer various kinds of deals and discounts. Register your email on those sites to get information regularly and also sometimes they send you promo codes or points to spend on. These codes and points help you to get discounts on your desired flights. As we know the price of the flights fluctuate very often, so the best tip is to, check the prices every day and try to book your flight as early as possible before your trip because it is believed that the earlier you book the cheaper you get but obviously not in all cases.

Business travelers who book their flight seats at the very last moment, usually they had to pay the premium price but those prices also fluctuate from time to time. So, if you cannot afford those premium prices for your flight seats try to use these tips, it may help you.

Bangkok Transportation

2. Bangkok Transportation:

The transportation system in Bangkok is very well organized. Though the city has its traffic problem, because of the population problem. You can take taxis or you can always rent a car or a bike. These are pretty cheap. You can rent them for like $6 to $10 for a day. Taxi and Tuk-tuks are also very cheap in Bangkok but beware of the scams. If the driver smells that you don’t know the cost or you are new to this place. They might haggle you a bit or they can just go all around the city to get more money from you. So, always try to use the Google Map or any sort of GPS you have on your phone.

I personally prefer using Grab or Uber but my most fav transportation system in Bangkok is their BTS (sky train). All the locals use this service and it is half the price than any other transports I have mentioned here, and also it is a very fast service. Traveling by BTS means no traffic and almost all the great places you want to go to Bangkok, you can by BTS. But the other places you cannot reach by BTS, you can always order an Uber or Grab for that. These are also very cheap but Grab is much cheaper than Uber in my opinion. Grab and Uber are much more reliable and haggle free than taxis and tuk-tuks.

3. Bangkok Accommodations:

Bangkok has a really active vibrant city life experiences to offer its tourists. Although this city also has some parts where you will feel that the countryside vibe. You can always choose between them, hefty city life experience or a bit country like vibe. You will find a lot of affordable hotels and hostels for your stay there. If you are backpacking through Thailand you should go for the hostels, those are very cheap and convenient like ($10) a day, and if you are traveling with your partner or family you should go for the hotels or the Airbnb around that place you want to stay.

Airbnb is very popular in Bangkok, as well as in entire Thailand. These places are very safe, clean and tourist friendly. You will get a multicultural experience and also you will get to live among the locals, so you will know their locals a lot better and will also enjoy their living style, culture a bit more closely, which will be allowing you to get the real sense of knowledge about Bangkok’s lifestyle. Airbnb offers you a vast number of facilities in a very low budget. They offer you kitchen facilities, if you are traveling with your family and want to stay under one roof and want to cook homemade meals this is a very good option for you, they also provide you with several bedroom apartments, so you can all fit in.

If you look for these kinda facilities in hotels that will be way more expensive than Airbnb and not all the hotels have these facilities but still, if you are looking for a particular view or place to stay like 4 star or 5-star hotels then choosing hotels of your liking are the best option for you. Bangkok’s skyline is really mesmerizing at night. So, if you want to enjoy that kind of experience you should go for high rise buildings whenever you choose your Airbnb apartments or the hotel. My absolute favorite place to stay in Bangkok would be Sukhumvit, its a very clean, safe and really good neighborhood. You will find a ton of good Airbnb places to stay there. It is also very near to several BTS ( sky train) stations.

Accommodations in Bangkok are very reasonable, so do not worry about your stay there, if you are on a very tight budget. You will always find a good place to stay. Bangkok also has a remarkably safe neighborhood for its locals and tourists. The cops are very active over there. You can just walk around all over the city in the middle of the night and I can assure you that, that is absolutely safe because I did that so many times during my stays over Bangkok and for the love the god nothing happened.

4. Bangkok Climate and Weather:

In late November and early December is the best time to visit Bangkok, in my opinion, because I went there in October last year and it was really hot and turn into a very uncomfortable experience. September and October are Bangkok’s rainiest months. It is all my personal opinion, maybe you will like there at that time of the year if you come from a cold country.

The summer in entire Thailand has a good deal of rainfall, while the winters have very little. This climate is considered to be the average temperature in Bangkok, and that is 28.1 °C. About 1430 mm of precipitation falls annually. But its always very beautiful all the year around over there.

5. How costly Bangkok is:

All the places I have been to in Bangkok has a very reasonable deal for everyone. You can eat delicious good food for cheap. You can go to cheap shopping sprees out there. You can also roam around the city for a cheap cost. Living costs are very cheap over there as I said before. Also wherever you’re coming from if you want to exchange your money into Bahts, you should totally go to money exchanges near BTS (Skytrain) stations. These money exchange shops give a better rate for your money.

Drinks and booze are also very cheap in Bangkok. If you like clubbing and stuffs like that, then Bangkok will be a heaven for you. Bangkok has a vibrant nightlife for all the party people. Beers are very cheap in Bangkok, you can buy like a bucket of them. One bucket of beer costs like ($10-$12) only. Big bottles of beer cost $1.32 – $1.99.

6. Bangkok Nightlife:

Bangkok is the heart of  Thailand. No matter wherever you go in Thailand, you gotta pass through this place. That’s how it works. Bangkok’s nightlife is so colorful and lively like, that I can assure you, you will fall in love with it. All the bars, clubs and restaurants stay open unlit 3 am and more.

There are so many places like Khao San Road, Soi Cowboy, Soi 4 Nana Plaza, China Town, Coco Walk, etc are the best places to get cheap drinks and entertainment late at night. Bangkok is very well known for its rooftop bars and dining places. Some of my favorites are Red Sky Rooftop, Heaven Bangkok, Cru Rooftop Bar, The Roof. These are all near Siam, so very convenient to travel by BTS to get any of these places.

7. Bangkok Foods:

Thailand is very famous for its food, Thai cuisine is one of the best cuisines all around the globe. So, Bangkok is obviously one of the best places to eat the tastiest Thai food. I will share some of my absolute favorite Thai foods in here. If you love spicy food you gotta love Thai delicacy. They have some best spicy food options for everyone. If you love soup, you surely wanna try some Thai soups. They have varieties of options to choose from. My all-time favorite soup is Tom Yum Goong/ Kai. It is a spicy orange color soup made with shrimp or chicken with coconut milk, lemongrass, Thai chilies, etc. Another soup I really like is Tom Kha Kai, this soup is made with chicken and coconut milk. It’s just like the Tom Yum but with the tamer twist.

As like other Asian countries, Thailand also offers you a vast number of seafood options to eat from. So, does Bangkok. You will find fresh, mouth-watering seafood all around Bangkok but for very cheap. Bangkok’s street food means seafood items at a low price. Shrimps, crabs, oysters, scallops, clams, squids, octopus, lobsters, etc you name it and you will find them in Bangkok to eat. Some of their very famous seafood dishes are Som Tum, Pad Thai, Thawt Man Goong, etc. In Bangkok, you will find varieties of curry dishes and noodle dishes. They are also mouth-watering delicious. Like Gaeng Keow Wan Kai, Gaeng Daeng, etc.

If you love fruits then you gotta try some fruits in Bangkok. You will find so many kinds of fruits in the streets of Bangkok. Try some of their fresh fruit juices over there. Trust me you will love it. My favorites are dragon fruits and green coconuts. You can buy them for really cheap in Bangkok. Thai coconuts are very sweet compared to other countries I have tried them before. Another very delicious food you gotta try while you are in Bangkok is Mango Sticky Rice (Khao Neeo Mamuang). This is a very simple dish with so much flavor. Its made of coconut milk, sugar, sticky rice, and mango.

10. Is Bangkok Safe? :

Every time I have traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, I have never faced any sort of safety issues there. Not just in Bangkok but entire Thailand is very safe I must say. Thailand government is very protective of its tourists and their safety. If it’s night or any time of the day, it’s always safe to travel around anywhere in the city.

Neighborhoods are very safe, the locals are very friendly and helpful all around Bangkok. The copes are also very active over there. So, you don’t need to stress about this matter at all, if you are planning any trip to Bangkok or anywhere in Thailand.

And lastly, these are some of my favorite places to visit, foods, shopping malls, and all the tips and tricks to travel Bangkok without breaking your pockets and maxing out your credit cards. Bangkok is awesome! There are so many great things to do, visit, and eat! I´ve been there once for three days and enjoyed that time! The only negative was that I was a bit too sensible… it is quite a bit too much of everything like the air pollutions, the humidity, the mass and loudness of the traffic… it took some time to get accustomized to it and I got some heavy headache from all of it. However, I wouldn´t miss that experience!
